A while back one of the editors of a small Caribbean community newspaper asked me to write a profile about Terrance Saunders, a drama teacher who produces school plays for Remembrance Day assemblies that focus on unknown stories about contributions of Black and other minority Canadians to the military and cultural history of Canada. I planned to follow up with him to ask for his list of such stories/cases he had compiled over the years but never got around to it.
I have a need now for stories of erasure, victim-blaming/victim shaming, wrongful arrest or conviction, or tales of children/ women/ Black people, etc. who were deemed insane at various times because the tales of abuse they reported seemed too bizarre to be true. Or perhaps just too inconvenient for some powerful person(s). If you know any such story that has made the news before can you please message me. Anyone willing to communicate about personal stories that went public please feel free to contact me here.
My ask is for something I am writing; call it research. Thank you very much.
