The Toronto International Film Festival is happening now, with devoted star gazers lining up for hours on sidewalks downtown.
This year though, my time and money are off-Tiff. Or more like off-off off Tiff. I’m with the CTFF, very tiny in scale and budget relative to TIFF. I took in the gala opening of the Caribbean Tales Film Festival and was rather impressed with the opening feature – the quite well acted and varied Diary of a Badman. There was a bit of a lull after opening night for behind the scenes activity like pitches from aspiring filmmakers and an incubator program to develop budding talent. I hope to take in some more CTFF for the remainder of this week. Here’s an open invitation to you if you are visiting or reside in Town – do come and enjoy what Caribbean residents and diaspora people have to offer.
