What I really intended doing this night was taking in the Art Gallery of Ontario’s poetry, music and spoken word event, mainly because people I know are up front and centre with that do. Jamaican-Canadian dub poet Lillian Allen is the guest-curator of the series for the next four weeks and one of my regular going-to-events-with buddy is performing at this first show. I managed to miss her last performance – where I intended testing a new poem. (Won’t post it here because I want to submit it to a publication that only accepts virgin poems.) On that day in question I was held up on a visit to Centre Island-Toronto Islands doing research for another writing. Anyways, I just want to recommend Lilly Allen’s series to poetry and art lovers, especially her Revolutionary Tea Party on October 28. Fee attached.
And, if you are a visitor in town, I suggest a trip to the Toronto Islands as a ‘must do.’ It’s a beautiful space with a lovely and calming ferry ride to and from.
