My Mind

Personal website of M.G. Daniel. Sharing poetry, my writings, snippets from my life and whatever's on my mind.

Something old

Reaching again into the writings of my early youth to share something from a long time ago.

I begged

At your doorsteps

For food,

Your dogs licked my sore.

I knocked

At your offices

For jobs,

Your keys shut my door.

I prayed

At your altars

For salvation,

You called me a bore.

I romped

In your presence

For escape,

You urged me “romp more.”

I discovered more than Columbus

In my history,

Explored new grounds

Of my story

With others, my kind,

I grabbed back my mind,

Got your gun,

While you run

I shoot to halt my fleeing self.

You do not repent,

You just shriek

Oh God, a delinquent!
